While Peter Capaldi has already made his “Doctor Who” television debut as the Twelfth Doctor, he’ll be making his inaugural comic appearance this fall: Titan Comics has shared the upcoming covers that feature the latest Time Lord.

As reported earlier this year, Titan Comics has taken over publishing rights to the series from IDW Comics, which had published “Doctor Who” tales in North America since 2008.

In July, Titan will publish Tenth and Eleventh Doctor editions, with the Doctor as portrayed by David Tennant and Matt Smith, respectively, in the long-running science-fiction television series.

“Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor” No. 1 will hit stores Oct. 1, with Capaldi on the regular cover, and will be penned by writer Robbie Morrison (“Drowntown,” “The Authority,” “
2000AD,” “Nikolai Dante”) and artist Dave Taylor (“Batman: Death by Design,” “2000AD”). As with the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor ranges, “Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor” No. 1 comes with a cover painted by Alice X. Zhang, plus five variants — including a “100% Rebel Time Lord” photo cover and a Mariano Laclaustra-drawn picture of companion Clara Oswald (played by Jenna Coleman).

Although the Scottish actor, best known for his role as a foul-mouthed government official in the British TV political comedy “The Thick of It,” has appeared as a minor character in a previous “Doctor Who” episode (2008’s “The Fires of Pompeii”) and featured in the third season of the spinoff “Torchwood,” Capaldi made his debut as the Doctor in a brief scene in November’s 50th-anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor.” A few weeks later, he made his official entrance in the Christmas special, alongside returning character Clara.

"Doctor Who" star Matt Smith. “I think what he brought back to the role is the absolute nuttiness of the Doctor,” Moffat said. “Matt’s Doctor is basically insane. You put him in a normal situation, and you realize he’s an absolute lunatic.” (Al Seib / Los Angeles Times)‘Doctor Who’: For Matt Smith, it’s been a ‘nutty’ ride

Dr who started with William Hartnell and has remained a gripping program ever since. I hope Peter Capaldi can live up to his predecessors but i am looking forward to seeing the new series.
