44. “Wolverine” and “X-Men” anime series (2011)  “Wolverine” and “X-Men” are each re-imagined for a Japanese audience in 12-episode series for Animax, with English versions shown on G4, under the guidance of visionary writer Warren Ellis (“Transmetropolitan,” “The Authority”). The Wolverine character, of course, has a history with Japan, and Mariko Yashida figures into his solo series. The X-Men take on the mutant-part-harvesting U-Men in theirs (which also features Wolverine). (Madhouse / Marvel Entertainment)
