PS4 versus XBox, in robot form

Nov. 20, 2013 | 5:07 p.m.

With the release of the PlayStation 4 and XBox One consoles a week apart, the few undecided gamers who haven’t thrown their support behind one console or the other may have given rise to Machinima’s newest mini-movie, “The Console War.”

The piece starts off with Master Chief, a popular character from XBox’s “Halo” franchise, taking out Kratos, a popular character from PlayStation’s “God of War” series. It’s a battle that parallels consumer console wars that are sure to erupt during this holiday season when the new generation of consoles — including 2012’s WiiU — will be pitted against one another.

The video only focuses on PS4 and XBox though, and follows Machinima’s narrative productions of “Halo Reach,” “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” (and the sequel), as well as live-action fan pieces like the Skyrim project and the “Dead Island” video game trailer.

Just published Tuesday, the video already has over 130,000 views. The 2-minute-and-45-second video is mostly a promo for the company’s robo-animation skills, but it’s nevertheless one more thing polarized console supporters can debate. Some early comments from YouTube users:

Lorenzo Miguel Chan: I think the title is wrong. It isn’t a console war, it’s a fanboy war.

Nicholas van Huyssteen: Laughed so hard when the WiiU showed up and just got swatted aside

srJune: stop the console war, gamers must unite and stop the hating. i got both the 360 and ps3 siting side-by-side and they both make me happy! chill out yo! seriously! lol

Slan Evengod: It’s not the console that matters.. I cant play my ps4 or my xbox one, I can however play the games that are released, Thus its the games that really make the difference.

Don’t worry, Wii U fans. Despite some rough treatment in the video, there was a small amount of support from commenters.

One Response to PS4 versus XBox, in robot form

  1. Nathan says:

I like both master chief and kratos but I think kratos would make chief beg for mercy. Kratos took down Olympus. Came back from the dead twice and couldn’t even kill him self in the 3rd one
