The new trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ showcases lots — and we really mean lots — of Spidey action, with the web slinger going up against not just Jamie Foxx’s villain Electro but also Chris Cooper’s Green Goblin.

“Every day I wake up knowing that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will make,”  says Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker at the beginning of the clip.

The trailer then shows just how many enemies, and how much destruction, will be unleashed in the sequel, due May 2.

Like its predecessor, “The Amazing Spider-Man,” the new film is directed by Marc Webb (“[500] Days of Summer”). Emma Stone returns as Gwen Stacy, with Cooper and Dane DeHaan joining the cast as Norman Osborn and his son, Harry. Sally Field also reprises her role as Peter’s Aunt May, and Campbell Scott makes an appearance as Peter’s father, Richard.

This summer, photographers snapped shots from the set of Garfield and Stone together, and of Foxx as Electro. (Click through the gallery above to see some of the images.) The Electro photos, taken while the filmmakers were shooting in New York’s Times Square, show Foxx wearing blue makeup and prosthetics, as well as an LED-lined hoodie.

In the original comics, Electro is an electrician named Max Dillon who gains the ability to generate and control electricity after he’s struck by lightning while repairing a power line. The character, who first appeared in 1964, is typically seen wearing a green suit and a yellow lightning bolt mask, but Foxx’s Electro appears to be more closely modeled on the Ultimate version of the villain.

Sony has great expectations for the second movie in the superhero franchise. The studio already has announced that the third and fourth installments in the saga of Peter Parker, as played by Andrew Garfield, are set for release on June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018.
