An extended version of the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer is out, offering a few more seconds of the villainous Ultron’s ominous monologue.

“Age of Ultron,” which is due in theaters May 1, will reunite the Marvel superheroes, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in a battle against Ultron (James Spader).

The majority of the extended trailer features footage we’ve already seen in previous teasers, but adds a few additional moments. The trailer begins with Spader’s technological villain confronting the Avengers.

“I know you mean well,” Ultron intones. “You want to protect the world, but you don’t want it to change. There’s only one path to peace. Your extinction.”

Then the video launches into the previously released trailer for the film, complete with the eerie rendition of “I’ve Got No Strings” from Disney’s “Pinocchio,” though with a smattering of added scenes, including Hawkeye keeping vigil in a clock tower, Black Widow looking at what appears to be Loki’s staff and Iron Man attacking some sort of snow fortress.

“Age of Ultron” is director Joss Whedon’s hotly anticipated follow-up to 2012’s “The Avengers,” which united Marvel’s disparate superheroes against Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and his swarm of alien invaders. The summer release set box-office records, grossing more than $1.5 billion worldwide, and was hailed as witty and worthy of its hype.

Samuel L. Jackson, who portrays Nick Fury in the Marvel films, reprises his role in the sequel, along with Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill). Newcomers include Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as twins Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Stark’s artificially intelligent butler Jarvis (voiced by Paul Bettany) becomes the Vision.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for the film:

When Tony Stark tries to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

The trailer comes after Marvel’s recent announcement of its Phase 3 movie lineup, including feature films for “Doctor Strange,” “Captain Marvel,” “Black Panther” and third and fourth “Avengers” installments, among other projects
