A new movie poster for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” was released Tuesday, and the film’s first teaser trailer is on its way.
The poster shows Chris Evans as the Cap in what appears to be the cargo hold of a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane. In the distance is the agency’s helicarrier, which, as fans will remember, took quite a beating in “The Avengers.” Below is Washington, the Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monument visible in the haze.
The new poster is the second one released for the “Captain America” sequel; the first depicts a worn and paint-chipped version of the Cap’s shield. The new poster’s release precedes Thursday’s teaser trailer debut, slated for 9 a.m. PDT on iTunes trailers.
The film, due out April 4, will adhere closely to Ed Brubaker’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” comic book story line, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has said.
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the film will continue to explore Steve Rogers’ tricky adjustment to the modern world after his 65 years frozen in the Arctic, though with a decidedly more political bent.
“He’s still trying to acclimate,” Evans said during the film’s presentation at D23 in August. “It’s more about trying to get used to the way the world is now in terms of society and politics.”
In addition to Evans, “Winter Soldier” stars Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Anthony Mackie (new character the Falcon) and Robert Redford (Agent Alexander Pierce), among others.
Check out the poster at right and stay tuned for Thursday’s teaser trailer.
