Comic-Con 2013: ‘Ender’s Game,’ ‘Divergent’ unveil new photos

July 19, 2013 | 4:45 p.m.

On the heels of Thursday’s Comic-Con panel touting the upcoming sci-fi films “Ender’s Game” and “Divergent,” Summit Entertainment has released new promotional media for both films, offering a sneak peek at two grim visions of the future.

The cache includes a series of banners for “Ender’s Game” showing the cast members crisply dressed in the uniforms of the International Fleet, the military force that protects the Earth from the hostile alien race known as the Formics.

The cast includes Asa Butterfield as Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a young prodigy who could be the planet’s best hope for survival; Harrison Ford as Col. Hyrum Graff, who trains the young soldiers; and Ben Kingsley as the legendary Cmdr. Mazer Rackham. (Check out the gallery above for more.)

Accompanying the banners is a new teaser video paying tribute to Rackham’s heroics in an aerial battle against Formic forces.

Also included in the gallery above are new photos from the dystopian adventure “Divergent,” which is set in a post-apocalyptic Chicago where people are divided into factions based on their personality types.

Shailene Woodley stars as Tris Prior, a girl who discovers she is “divergent” and doesn’t fit neatly into one group — which puts her in a dangerous predicament. In the photos, Woodley can be seen leaping from a train with co-star Zoe Kravitz, training alongside Theo James and scaling a girder for a crane shot.

“Ender’s Game” opens Nov. 1; “Divergent” opens March 21.
