‘Divergent’: New trailer and director Q&A to arrive Wednesday morning

Nov. 11, 2013 | 11:26 a.m.

Set your alarms, “Divergent” fans. A new trailer for the film is slated to be revealed Wednesday morning, followed by a live chat with director Neil Burger.

The new “Divergent” trailer will be unveiled at 8:30 a.m. PST on Wednesday in a live streaming event on YouTube.com/SummitScreeningRoom. Burger and various YouTube talent and fans will then host a live chat.

The film, based on the popular young adult book trilogy by Veronica Roth, is set in a dystopian future in which teenagers are sorted into five factions based on their virtues.

Heroine Tris, portrayed by Shailene Woodley in the big-screen adaptation, is born into Abnegation, which esteems selflessness above all other characteristics, but when tested she discovers she is “divergent” and possesses characteristics from more than one faction. Warned that her divergence is dangerous, Tris keeps her test results secret and chooses to join Dauntless, a daring group that values boldness and courage, where she meets Four (Theo James), a leader of that faction. Other factions include Erudite, Candor and Amity.
