Marvel has released a special extended look at “Guardians of the Galaxy,” due in theaters Aug. 1, and it’s the most ‘tude that Rocket the talking raccoon has displayed yet — which is saying something for this wiseguy.

Voiced by Bradley Cooper, the sarcastic member of the oddball band of fighters led by Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), laughs uproariously at his leader’s lack of a distinct plan. Apparently, Rocket, an organized type, wants more than roughly 12% of a battle strategy figured out. Watch the video here:

Like many of the trailers before it, this new spot is soundtracked by the Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb,” adding to the impressive roster of songs that the “Guardians” trailers have employed, including Blue Swede’s version of “Hooked on a Feeling” and Norman Greenbaum’s sublime “Spirit in the Sky.” All the tracks, supposedly part of a mix tape Quill made back on Earth, will appear on the film’s soundtrack, as director James Gunn recently revealed on his Facebook page.

“Guardians” follows Quill, who’s on the run from a villain known as Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) after coming into possession of a mysterious orb. Before long, Quill is allied with a rogues’ gallery that includes not only Rocket Raccoon, but Zoe Saldana’s green alien assassin Gamora; Dave Bautista’s vengeful Drax the Destroyer; and the tree-like humanoid Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel.

In addition to the five guardians who make up the squad of misfits, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” cast also features Michael Rooker as Yondu, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Benicio del Toro as the Collector, Karen Gillan as the sadistic villain Nebula, John C. Reilly as  Rhomann Dey, and Josh Brolin as Thanos, the death-loving supervillain first glimpsed in the credit sequence of Joss Whedon’s 2012 blockbuster “The Avengers.”

Recently, director James Gunn  revealed that Nathan Fillion of “Firefly” and “Castle” fame will have a “fun” cameo in the film.
