Severus Snape, played by Alan Rickman, in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2." (Warner Bros. Pictures)

David Yates, the soft-spoken auteur who directed the final four films in the history-making franchise, watched an early Imax screening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2″  with 340 lucky Hero Complex readers and then took the stage to talk about the new movie and (dab those Muggle tears) the end of a magical movie era.  We’ll be bringing you video highlights from the Q&A in upcoming days (you can see the first one right here) and below is one that will be of particular interest to Snape fans.

This is the end of an era. No more movies, no more books… maybe there'll be an animated series. :)

POLL: What is the best thing about Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2?

    • Kerby says:

Hands down – Alan Rickman is the best thing about the Harry Potter films. He is brilliant.

    • Allison says:

Please NOOOOOOO! An animated version would kill the movie and series. It's like having Pride and Prejudice turned into a cartoon; it's just not right and should not be done. It's a dishonor, disgrace, rude, and, not respectable.(It's like spitting at a queen; even a rude hillbilly would know better than that! You just don't do something like that!)

  2. Nelson Saez says:

Alan Rickman was amazing as Severus Snape. Some of the most touching moments on screen ever!

The Columbus we are celebrating in the 21st century, is the man who directed the successful “Harry Potter” films. http://bit.ly/n9FMpU

  4. Lonecia Coffman says:

Alan Rickman is eminently watchable no matter what he does!

  5. Shane says:

  7. MichelleLeanne says:

  8. Michelle says:

Servous Snape was a great man of all.

  9. Kat says:

Alan Rickman is amazing in whatever he does. I loved him in Bottle Shock!

  10. Amy says:

I just finished watching Bottle Shock (finding myself wanting to watch anything and everything that Rickman is in after the seeing Snape's end) and I agree with Kat he was great in it.

  11. alexcams says:

Nothing Rickman ever does will surpass his work as the villain in Die Hard ("I am an exceptional thief, Mrs. McClane. And since I'm moving up to kidnapping, you should be more polite.") and as Rev. Obadiah Slope in The Barchester Chronicles on British TV. And don't forget that he was just as charming as Hugh Grant in Sense and Sensibility.

  12. Pamela in Virginia says:

It was wonderful to hear Alan Rickman given past due praise for his incredible talent. He has described himself as an instrument, and he performs with every part of his being. Every movement, and subtle gesture is incredible.

It took me three days to pull my mind away from his performance in Deathly Hallows 2, and I look forward to seeing it again, and owning it in the future. PLEASE, may he be given a nomination for an OSCAR and may he WIN it!

  13. GiGi says:

I love Alan Rickman. The man deserves an Oscar nod for best supporting actor for his wonderful performance. Nobody does evil like Alan!!

  14. Lily says:

All the actors in this franchise were amazing including Dan who never failed to rise to the occassion but Alan totally transcended space and time in some of those scenes. I'm not a Potterhead (or however you say it) just a casual fan who couldn't believe how moved I was by Rickman. I hope hope hope he gets nominated at the very least.

  15. Jackie says:

Alan Rickman's performance and interpretation of Severus Snape was brilliant. The man deserves a supporting actor Oscar. How many movie villains do you cry for? A brilliantly written character and a brilliant, restrained performance.

  16. callisto says:

They should come up with the movie with the same storyline from Snapes' perspective! And starring Alan Rickman!

  17. ToriAnn says:

Alan Rickman has been my favorite actor for over half my life, which is not saying much considering i am only 20. His talent for portraying a character is absolutely brilliant. I myself have always believed it was unjust that he had not received his due appreciation from the public. And I also fear the role of Severus Snape may shadow, rather than enhance, his past performances (Something the Lord Aade, Love Actually, Galaxy Guest, Robin Hood, and so many more but these are my favorites) . If he is not at least nominated for an Oscar, it will truly show how blinded our society is and how acting is now based on your looks instead of the love and talent for the theater. Not saying Mr. Rickman isn't good looking, for he is very much so, but it is sad to see our world come to this. Good luck Mr. Alan Rickman, for i truly believe you deserve and Oscar for your dedication to you work whether it be past, present, or future, I assure you, you are amazing and deserve this and much, much more!!! All My hopes and wishes are for you.

  18. Lily says:

I do think Yates gave far too much away though here. As a fan I like to hear he's the finest actor you've ever worked with but the mean prickly part could be left out LOL and he gave his technique away!

  19. Lily says:

And another thing, David Yates is totally sexy isn't he? I like the way he carries himself and I respect his talent immensely (even if he gives a tad bit too much information LOL). DH2 was just phenominal. Kisses to David!

  20. Lily says:

WB put out an Oscar Consideration Booklet for the industry and really, in my opinion, downplayed Alan and concentrated more on Fiennes (who, not for nothing, never got as rave reviews as Alan). Alan has consistently been praised by reviewers for every HP movie. Why WB chose to favor Fiennes remains a mystery but they are officially on my **** list! I shouldn't care about oscar noms but to see WB, et al. favoring Fiennes really hurts. If anything, they should have played it fair and given them the same amount of coverage in this 'booklet' Nothing against Fiennes, but anyone reading this 'booklet' would think Fiennes stole the show in reviewers eyes and we ALL know that isn't true! Alan did in the majority of review I've read and in the hearts of fans. Fair is Fair WB and I'm going to keep on posting this information cause I think, for the sake of truth and fairness, it needs to be said.
