Jennifer Lawrence is back in the arena as Katniss Everdeen in a new international trailer for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” the anticipated sequel set to reach theaters Nov. 22.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, “Catching Fire” adapts the second book in Suzanne Collins’ bestselling “Hunger Games” trilogy. The saga follows resourceful young warrior Katniss as she becomes an unlikely symbol of hope in a brutal future world in which teenagers are forced to compete in a televised battle to the death.

The second installment in Lionsgate’s planned four-movie series sees Katniss, played by newly minted Oscar winner Lawrence, selected to fight for her life once more after struggling to regain a sense of normalcy in the wake of her victory in the previous film.

“She’s struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder after the games while living in Victor’s Village, where she never wants for food, and feels useless. She’s adapting to a new life,” Lawrence said of her character’s evolution during an appearance at Comic-Con International last month.

The trailer points up Katniss’ increasingly adversarial relationship with Donald Sutherland’s cruel President Snow, and the love triangle developing among Katniss and fellow victor Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and her friend Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth).

Also glimpsed in the clip are Philip Seymour Hoffman as gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee, Stanley Tucci as the flamboyant presenter Caesar Flickerman and Elizabeth Banks as the equally garish Effie Trinket, as well as Woody Harrleson’s Haymitch Abernathy and a shirtless Sam Clafin as Finnick Odair.

Earlier today, our sister blog Movies Now reported that Coldplay will contribute a song titled “Atlas” to the “Catching Fire” soundtrack. The song will debut Aug. 26, nearly three months ahead of the film’s release.
