A new trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” reveals the ruins of a decimated District 12, the former home of heroine Katniss Everdeen.

The one-minute teaser, released Thursday, features narration by Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) as they plot to recruit Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) to their resistance movement.

“No one else can do this but her,” Hoffman intones.

“She won’t be able to handle it,” Moore’s character responds. “The games destroyed her.”

The games would be the Hunger Games — an annual televised battle to the death in the future country of Panem. Katniss twice survived the horrors of the arena (in the box office blockbusters “The Hunger Games” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”) and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder as a result of her experiences.

The end of the second film saw Katniss whisked from the arena to District 13, where she learns about rebel plans to overthrow Panem’s oppressive government, helmed by President Snow (Donald Sutherland), with Katniss as the movement’s figurehead. She also learns that her former home has been firebombed — something she gets to see first-hand in the new teaser.

“We need to make it personal for her,” Hoffman explains.

A new single by Lorde, titled “Yellow Flicker Beat,” plays as Katniss explores the ashes of District 12. Eventually, she finds her home in Victor’s Village, gathers some of her old supplies and finds what appears to be a terrifying message from President Snow.

“The Hunger Games” films are based on the bestselling young adult book trilogy by Suzanne Collins. “Mockingjay – Part 1” is the third and penultimate film in the series, due in theaters Nov. 21. The film will premiere in London on Nov. 10, Lionsgate announced Wednesday. The final film, “Mockingjay – Part 2,” is slated for a Nov. 20 release. “Catching Fire” director Francis Lawrence (no relation to star Jennifer Lawrence) is directing both films.
