The producers of “The Hunger Games” created a bit of a stir among the book’s fans when “Winter’s Bone” actress Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss Everdeen, the 16-year-old protagonist in the intense young-adult novel by Suzanne Collins. The cover of an upcoming “Entertainment Weekly” gives us the first look of the blond-turned-brunet actress in the role.
[FOR THE RECORD: Katniss' age was misstated in an earlier version of this post.]
In the EW issue, Lawrence also recounts a talk that she had with director Gary Ross about the Oscar season, relating it to experiences that her District 12 hunter character went through in the book:
“He was asking me what the experience was like,” she recalls, “and I just kind of opened up and said, ‘I feel like a rag doll. I have hair and makeup people coming to my house every day and putting me in new, uncomfortable, weird dresses and expensive shoes, and I just shut down and raise my arms up for them to get the dress on, and pout my lips when they need to put the lipstick on.’ And we both started laughing because that’s exactly what it’s like for Katniss in the Capitol. She was a girl who’s all of a sudden being introduced to fame. I know what that feels like to have all this flurry around you and feel like ‘Oh, no, I don’t belong here.’”
It shouldn’t bring the kind of consternation that the Wonder Woman costume brought, but what do fans think of the look?

That's more like it! She's almost the Katniss I imagine!
Wow, I think she looks good as Katniss!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!
can't wait for the movie!!!
She's 16, not 15. And it's spelled "brunette." Couldn't get past the first paragraph of this article. The kids I babysit could write better journalism than this.
Uhm.. Katniss is 16 not 15!
She looks fantastic and beautiful!
We fixed the age, sorry, Jevon was typing fast (in order to get the post up as fast as possible) and mistakes do happen. Katie, “brunet” is actually acceptable (look it up) and in fact the Los Angeles Times style is to use that version as opposed to the gender-specific “brunette.” Thanks for commenting and be sure to read Hero Complex to the kids at bedtime:-)
this is my first comment and i just wonder why people are some people are so rude in their comments?? where's the love?
