“Iron Man 3″ won’t open in U.S. theaters until May 3, but leading man Robert Downey Jr., along with some of the film’s other stars, already have embarked on a massive world tour to help promote the Marvel blockbuster.

The tour kicked off Thursday in South Korea, with Downey celebrating his 48th birthday in spectacular Tony Stark fashion — tuxedo, throngs of admirers, you name it. On Saturday the actor will appear at an event in Beijing, and on April 10 he and Ben Kingsley, who plays the villainous Mandarin in the film, will meet the press (and fans) in Moscow.

Following stops slated in Munich, Paris and London, the travel itinerary concludes with the Los Angeles premiere of the movie at the El Capitan in Hollywood on April 24, and a New York date for Downey April 29.

Directed by Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”), “Iron Man 3″ marks the first post-“Avengers” Marvel movie to see release in theaters, and the film opens with Stark struggling a bit to reintegrate into his posh Malibu lifestyle.

“He’s retreated somewhat into his workshop … where he tinkers,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told Hero Complex. “He builds a version of the suit and the armor that can assemble on him at a moment’s notice.”

Happy Birthday Robert!! I am in MN and realized it is after midnight, so meaning it is now the 5th here, but then quickly realized you are most likely on California time, which bides me another 1 hour and 45 minutes to send my wishes to be exact. Hope you had a fantastic day! I have enjoyed over the last 6 months or so getting familiar with your films, since I have fallen in love with the Iron Man series, and I did send you a picture to autograph, but unfortunately I think I may have sent it to a National Forest address location. My bad. You are hard to locate. Anyway, take care, God Bless. Amy Brekke in Rogers, MN

  2. Chris Narbone says:

Really looking forward to this movie. The last one was OK but had too many characters. Based on the trailer looks like this movie will deliver the goods.

Cannot believe you are ignoring the fans in AUSTRALIA , obviously our demographics don't mean that much to you..Iron Man 1 opened up here in 2008, since then nothing! or maybe you are sending our Aussie actors to promote it in Sydney..well one thing we can do down under is forget you to.
Not ONE front page cover on a magazine, a pull of poster at best, no interviews.
Robert Downey Jr. has been on the European circuit for all IRON MAN openings and The Avengers, now Asia..well we are in the Pacific Asian Ring. I would like someone like Kevin Feige why he doesn't consider the fans of Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man important..not enough soap I presume.
    Your insulting.
