Warner Bros. confirmed earlier this week that “Man of Steel” filmmaker Zack Snyder will, in fact, unite the heroes of the Justice League for a feature film after his follow-up to the 2013 Superman movie arrives in theaters in 2016.

The question is, which heroes will be featured in the cast?

The collection of the World’s Greatest Superheros, originally known as the Justice Society of America, made their 1940 debut in “All Star Comics” No. 3. In 1960, the group was revived under the League moniker and received its own title, featuring the classic seven-member incarnation of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter.

Since then, the group has had more than 100 members, including one-shot inclusions and heroes with multiple alter egos.

When it comes to Snyder’s upcoming film, it’s a safe bet that Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman will be part of the team, as will Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, who makes her debut in the “Man of Steel” sequel, which will open May 6, 2016 (the same date staked out by Marvel for its third “Captain America” film).

Actor Ray Fisher’s recent casting as Cyborg in the “Man of Steel” sequel would bring the likely “Justice League” tally up to four, leaving, of the original seven members, the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter.

With an upcoming series on the CW, it seems like the Flash is ready for his close-up, and despite “Green Lantern’s” disappointing performance at the box office in 20111, plans have long been in the works for a sequel.

Earlier this year, Dwayne Johnson added to the growing rumors that he may take over for Ryan Reynolds in the Lantern corps, playing John Stewart, who subbed for Hal Jordan in the comics. Six months ago, he tweeted this photo with an accompanying hashtag asserting Green Lantern’s superiority to Superman.

Online rumors suggest that the Aquaman role could go to  “Game of Thrones” star Jason Momoa, who reportedly signed  for an unnamed role in the “Man of Steel” sequel earlier this year.

Change the name "Captain Marvel" for "Shazam". In DC Comics no longer speaks of Captain Marvel.

    • lashell hackett says:

you should make a movie about the justice league on how it was form not a cartoon movie.

  2. Sheldon Wiebe says:

The Flash is a charter member of both League and Society. He needs to be included.

  3. Charles Ray Wells says:

Bring back Doctor Strange. Surely with his magical powers he could do some good on the messed planet Earth.

  4. jeff mesloh says:

Couldn't vote for the martian manhunter because nowadays Mars is not so far away as it was in
1956. I think that was the year of his first appearance. His origin and most everything else would
have to revamped. Plus he has the exact same powers as the man of steel.

    • John Johnson says:

Exact same powers as Man of Steel?

      I didn't know Superman was telepathic or a shape-shifter?

    • Claus Talon says:

CORRECTION-He actually has MORE powers than Supes. Telepathy, shapeshifting and density control, along with some of kal's abilities-which make an interesting character.

Vixen would be a fantastic addition to the team. Reading "Vixen: Return of the Lion" really got me into her character; in fact, I wish it had gone on longer, so we could have learned more about her back story. Her powers are definitely on par with those of, say, The Flash or Aquaman, so she would definitely fit in well.

And, of course, adding Vixen adds more diversity to the main team, which will presumably consist of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and a Green Lantern (hopefully John Stewart). I think we can all agree that the league could use more women and more people of color.

    • Claus Talon says:

I will agree on having more diversity on the team, but only after the forming of the original team according to the historical mythology-even BEFORE the addition of Superman. Then I see no problem with adding whomever. Switching out Hal Jordan for John Stewart even during the course of the film would be relatively easy to explain, given the audience's aforeknowledge of the Lantern Corps. Bringing in Cyborg should probably be next. I think it'd be wiser to introduce Vixen in a later DC production, whether it be the next JLA film or perhaps the long awaited Wonder Woman movie. Just my two hundred and twenty-two cents.

  6. harish says:

most probably the super hero ensemble for justice league would be,
    1) superman
    2) batman
    3) wonder woman
    4) cyborg
    5) green lantern
    6) flash
    7) aquaman

and no one other than these 7

    • Claus Talon says:

I wouldn't say"and no one other than these 7", but your list includes the core members, so I wouldn't be at all dissapointed. I actually would've chosen the Manhunter instead of Cyborg, being as he was one of the original members, before even Superman joined. But I guess in this "tekkie" age, they've got to satifiy that audience also.

  7. Matt says:

If you are bringing in Grant Gustin as The Flash, then you should definitely bring Stephen Amell on board as Green Arrow.

  8. Mike says:

I don't know who should be in it but Grant Morrison should write it. He had the best league ever.

  9. faustin says:

    stephen amell as green arrow

  10. Claus Talon says:

The initial Justice League of America lineup should include all of the ORIGINAL members even if the screen time is limited to a mere cameo. My choices are then obvious, as they should be: Aquaman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Wonder Woman. They ARE the core group and should receive that recognition on the big screen. Despite the success of Marvel's Avenger film, they did NOT feature the complete original core members. Neither did the first X-men film. Why not try something new and follow the source material just a bit closer? It can't hurt.
