“Man of Steel” arrives on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, and Warner Bros. is ramping up the hype with a live fan event Saturday.

Director Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent) and Amy Adams (Lois Lane) will talk about the film and the franchise’s future as well as take questions from fans in the streaming online event, to be held at 9 a.m. PST on Yahoo Movies. Kevin Smith will host, and fans can upload video questions to this site or submit their questions using Twitter, with tweets to @ManofSteelMovie using #AskManofSteel.

The event will also include a clip featuring a discussion between Snyder and actor Michael Shannon (General Zod) about the making of the film.

The fan event comes in time for Tuesday’s home video release of the Superman film. Hero Complex readers get a sneak peek at one of the Blu-ray’s bonus featurettes, in which star Henry Cavill reminisces about filming an underwater scene — a moment that stood in stark contrast to the frenetic pace of filming, he said.

“I had this wonderful moment of just taking a few deep, slow breaths and then dropping down, and then all of a sudden, all I could hear was my heart,” Cavill says in the clip (watch it above). “It was peaceful and quiet, and I was down there for ages, and I just felt like I could just keep on holding my breath. Everything slowed down.”

The Blu-ray release includes nearly four hours of bonus features, including a version of the film with commentary from Snyder, Cavill, Adams, Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and others; a look at the Kryptonian technology and weaponry used in the film, narrated by Dylan Sprayberry, who plays 13-year-old Clark Kent in the film; a look at the intense physical training regimen that helped sculpt Cavill, Shannon and Antje Traue (Faora-Ul); and more.

“Man of Steel” will be available as a Blu-ray 3-D combo pack ($44.95), Blu-ray combo pack ($35.99), DVD 2-disc special edition ($28.98) and 3-D limited collector’s edition ($59.99), as well as for digital download.

The film, which flew into theaters in June, was written by David S. Goyer from a story by him and Christopher Nolan (“The Dark Knight” trilogy). In addition to Cavill, Adams, Shannon, Lane and Traue, the movie starred Russell Crowe (Jor-El), Ayelet Zurer (Lara Lor-Van), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White).

Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman opposite Cavill’s Superman in an upcoming sequel slated for release in the summer of 2015.

“Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction,” Christopher Nolan said in a news release when the project was announced. “His vision for Superman opened the door to a while new universe, and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.”
