The latest trailer for “Man of Steel,” the new Superman film that sees Henry Cavill don the red cape of the famous hero, begins with a cryptic transmission from Michael Shannon’s General Zod, warning citizens of Earth, “You are not alone.”

Zod’s chilling speech, in which he demands that the last son of Krypton surrender or bring about the destruction of his adopted planet, serves as the backdrop for a number of scenic shots from the film, set for a June 14 release.

“Man of Steel” is directed by Zack Snyder from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer, the writing team behind the “Dark Knight” trilogy, which modernized Batman and broke box-office records. But reviving the world’s first comic-book superhero on the big screen — Superman turns 75 this year — is no small task.

“In the comic-book universe, you have all these sort of minor celebrities that have been put up as the end-all, be-all,” Snyder said in an interview with Hero Complex, citing past films that have featured Green Lantern, Ghost Rider and the Punisher, among others. “And then you have the fallen king who’s sadly relegated to the shadows. It’s cool to resurrect him and say, ‘Understand that this is the granddaddy of all superheroes.’”

“It’s the most realistic movie I’ve made,” Snyder added of “Man of Steel.” “There’s no tongue in anyone’s cheek. I’m not apologizing for Superman in any way. I’m saying, ‘Superman is a thing that must be taken seriously and embraced and understood.’”

  6. Steve B says:

Been looking forward to it. Looks action packed, but I don't see anything earth shattering here.

  7. C Whiteman says:

“F— me” was what I said out loud. This looks fantastic. Was that Brainiac’s ship????

  8. Edward says:

It looks like they did a pretty good job. It's pretty hard to make Superman look "cool" because of his colors/costume… and he can't be "dark" like Batman.

  9. Guest says:

    Don't like the uniform.

  10. Adrian says:

At least this one has actual muscle… not just a padded costume!

  11. BatDad says:

this seems to confirm the major change to cannon I have heard about.

  12. hawk says:

what happened to brandon routh? he looked like the clean cut type to play superman. whats he doing these days? i cant wait to see this movie.

  13. paul says:

Finally a Supes movie where he actually kicks some serious butt ! At first I was kind of worried about the whole reboot, suit redesign, and no Williams score but I have to say from the looks of these trailers and teasers they really made the right choices here. While I enjoyed all the Marvel stuff lately I think Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and the rest need to take notice. It's high time that the Last Son of Krypton shows us why he is our greatest protector !!!!!!

  14. michael says:

this movie has the chance to rival the second Batman with the Joker in ticket sales can’t wait for this movie looks unbelievable

  15. michael says:

I have to say from all the clips that I have seen of this movie it looks like this time they finally have gotten this right I hope the movie lives up to expectations. This movie is highly anticipated first time in a long time . I will probably actually try to take a day off work so I can see it right away

  16. Allen says:

Okay,,, first off,,, come on people lets remember and not forget the sacrifices and the awesomeness of Christopher Reeves… He will always be the original “SUPERMAN”, that being said… I am a true superman enthusiast and anything superman I’m into and I am eager to see this movie,, but all the different versions, plots, story lines, etc, they’re confusing our younger generations about the original origins of SUPERMAN, and with Zod and the other krptonians,, he isn’t the last son of Krypton. And this different color suit,,, what’s up with that?? What’s up with the good ol’ original red and blue,, our greatest AMERICAN super hero.. Is this suppose to give us all a darker, more messed up version of what’s going on in our world???? “Sigh”,,, go figure….
