The fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film arrives Friday and there’s already talk about a fifth which raises the question: How much Jack Sparrow can moviegoers handle?
For those diehard fans who shout “Bring me that horizon” every time there’s a chance to see Johnny Depp as the swishy swashbuckler, here’s an event that was made for you: Disney’s grand old El Capitan Theatre is staging a “Pirates” marathon on Thursday with all three previous movies leading up to the screening of the newest installment, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” which stars Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane.
The all-day marathon starts at 9 a.m. and will run about 10 hours. Disney is encouraging fans to dress up and there will a collector pin giveaway, lunch and dinner breaks, an ice cream intermission and a few surprises along with appearances by “Pirates” crew and creative contributors, including Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer. Tickets are available by phone at (800) 347-6396 and the El Capitan box office.
