Ridley Scott: ‘I came into science fiction by the backdoor’

June 22, 2010 | 1:47 p.m.

Here’s some nifty video from Ridley Scott’s appearance at the recent Hero Complex Film Festival in which he talks about the success of Sigourney Weaver amid the austere suspense of Alien,” and the surprising circumstances of his first meeting with Harrison Ford to discuss a film called Blade Runner.”

The festival was a tremendous success and we’re going to do it again next year. I have a few filmmakers in mind already, but I would love to hear who you’d like to see up there on the stage and what classic films fit the bill.

Well, I would love to see the video of the whole of the actual interview rather than a five minute snippet. I love complete interviews with Ridley because he has a lot of intricate descriptive things to say. It doesn't look as if many people who have actually been to the Q & A have been able to tell others anything more than snippets of what was said and it is seems to be only from accurate transcription of Ridley Scott's words that we might get the whole picture. But thank you anyway for releasing this fragment of the Q & A. Maybe more people would comment on it if you would post the whole thing. Also there was a comment from Geof Boucher in a written report about how Ridley said that what we saw of the Space Jockey was a suit. I and everyone else would love to know more about what was said there and the context in which Ridley was talking about the Space Jockey here.

It's great that there's going to be a HCFF next year. Where can I sign up for updates on it (non-twitter)?
