Harrison Ford is out on the promotion trail, talking up his role in the new Jackie Robinson baseball movie “42.” But what everyone really wants to discuss is his possible return as Han Solo in the new “Star Wars” movie.

Everyone except Harrison Ford, that is.

The star, who’s reportedly set to reprise his landmark role as the heroic cad, either doesn’t know much about his participation in “Episode VII” at this early date or he’s not allowed to share details. In any case, he’s opted to deflect “Star Wars” questions not with polite demurrals or stone-faced silence, but rather a grandfatherly sense of befuddlement.

Witness how Ford handled David Letterman on Wednesday.

Letterman, who uses confusion himself in order to draw answers out of his guests, met his match in Ford when the subject of “Star Wars” was raised.

“You talking to me?” Ford asked, going on to explain of his role in George Lucas’ space opera franchise. “I was only in three. Do you follow what I’m saying?”

Well, no, not really. Letterman quickly dropped the line of questioning.

An interviewer with “Entertainment Tonight” was met with a bit of Ford pantomime by way of response to his queries.

Ford’s visit to “Good Morning America” might have yielded the most concrete answer yet.

When asked about the film, Ford said, “I don’t know if I’m going to be invited to the party, but we’ll see ….”

We’ll hand it to Ford for his masterful management of the press.

What do you think? Do you want to see the actor once again return as Han Solo? Let us know in the comments below.

If there had been no Mr.Ford there would not have been Star Wars. Mr. Ford holds all the elements of Star Wars and binds them into a cohesive whole. Try to imagine any scenes in the first three films with an actor other than Mr. Ford and you would see a matinee pot boiler.

  3. paula says:

it MUST have him as Han Solo!!!! He is my favorite!!!

  4. Fan Holo says:

Maybe they should write Solo out of the next three films. Ford clearly isn't excited about revisiting the SW universe, and I'm tired of his cranky attitude when asked about it. What does he expect? I'm sure he won't complain about the money, though.

  5. Croydngrl says:

what I took from the Letterman appearance was that he was ONLY in 3, wasn't asked to be in any others (not that he would have fit in the story line) so why should he be in the new one

  6. "Nubian Eyes" says:

I dont know if some ppl understand it but alot of times you are told that u are not to speak of your roles in movies esp this early in the game, but I bet you all anything once production is in full swing he will come out singing Yeah Im Han Solo! I just hope that the movie dont be garbage.

  7. ehdinero says:

You're hoping that the movie won't be garbage? You only need to rewatch the other 6!

  8. Daniel says:

I am greatly anticipating his return as our favorite scruffy looking nerf herder. I second the previous comment- they are not authorized to disclose any information so his cryptic answers are simply him having a bit of fun with these reporters… clearly, he has a great admiration for the work of JJ Abrams and that may be the reason he signed on, other that the fact that both fisher and hamil are set to reprise their roles. Abrams is THE perfect choice, aside from Joss Whedon to direct. I personally love FOrds deflection of comments. if he was nit involved, he'd have outright said so. HE looks great though so naysayers should really keep their traps shut until they know more about what s going on.

  9. Nathan says:

He's trying to promote another movie right now. He's contractually obligated to focus on that. Once he can speak of the Star Wars role he will.

  10. A wookie says:

If there isn't Harrison Ford as Han Solo, I'm never watching Star Wars VII

  11. Ron says:

I think it's pretty clear he has not yet been asked, wasn't asked previously, and he prefers not to speculate and look either foolish or desperate.

  12. james says:

I think he needs to give the fans a little insite on what’s next or stop acting like he hate for anybody to ask about star wars. Does he even realize how many kids from the 70s and 80s lives star wars affected?

  13. james says:

It makes you wonder if weren’t for the role of Han Solo were would his career be today.

  14. adam says:

he obviously has signed a secrecy agreement. i really doubt he genuinely doesnt want to talk about it guys.

  15. jaze says:

    Han solo will be back..
