David Ayer has shared the first image of his “Suicide Squad.”
The director tweeted a photo taken of the actors assembled for a table read of the upcoming Warner Bros. movie featuring a roster of supervillains who are recruited by the government to take on black-op missions in exchange for clemency. The film is part of the studio’s announced slate of DC superhero films which also includes the upcoming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
While Jared Leto, who is set to play the Joker in the film, is absent from the shot, the image also includes a few faces that had not previously been associated with the film.
In addition to Leto, “Suicide Squad” will feature Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
The photo also includes Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, Jim Parrack, and Ike Barinholtz, whose roles have yet to be officially revealed.
“Suicide Squad” is set for an Aug. 5, 2016, release.
Warner Bros’. slate of upcoming DC films also includes stand-alone features for Wonder Woman in 2017 and the Flash in 2018, as well as Justice League movies in 2017 and 2019.
