While Marvel’s “The Avengers” had superhero movie fans lining up at the multiplex this weekend, DC Comics’ antiheroic Task Force X of “Suicide Squad” was assembling on social media.
After recently revealing Jared Leto’s new look as the Joker, writer-director David Ayer tweeted the first photo of the rest of the film’s cast in full costume on Sunday, giving fans a peek at Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Will Smith as ace assassin Deadshot, among others.
The film’s villains — drafted by a shady government organization to pull off missions not suited for traditional superheroes — are seen in Belle Reve Penitentiary, and appear ready for all sorts of weird action.

From left, the photo features Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Robbie), Deadshot (Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez).
The next day, Ayer returned to Twitter, revealing a closer look at Smith as Deadshot, wearing full combat gear including his signature mask.

It’s the first clear look at the next move in Warner Bros.’ shared universe of films based on characters from DC Comics, which will kick into high gear with Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
“Suicide Squad” opens Aug. 5, 2016.
