Liquid metal gets an upgrade in a short new teaser for “Terminator Genisys,” the 2015 Paramount film that will see Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the iconic sci-fi franchise.

The first full trailer for the film, directed by Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones,” “Thor: The Dark World”), is set to arrive Thursday — to help stoke excitement, Paramount yesterday released a motion poster featuring a grinning cybernetic skull and today offered a short bit of first-look video.

Watch it above.

Based on the original 1984 film by James Cameron, “Terminator Genisys” sees Emilia Clarke, known to many from her work on “Game of Thrones,” star as Sarah Connor, with Jai Courtney playing Kyle Reese. (DC announced yesterday that Courtney will star in David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” as Boomerang, alongside Will Smith’s Deadshot, Tom Hardy’s Rick Flagg and Jared Leto’s Joker, among others.)

Jason Clarke, Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee and J.K. Simmons round out the “Terminator” cast.

The film recently received some scrutiny over its plot, with die-hard fans upset over a retooled origin for the series’ heroine, but in an interview with Hero Complex earlier this year, Clarke promised a “badass” interpretation of the character.

“Terminator Genisys” is slated to open in theaters July 1.
