Hugh Jackman’s next solo outing as loner Logan officially has a release date, as does the sequel to Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” reboot.
Fox confirmed Thursday that “The Wolverine 2” will open March 3, 2017, with “Fantastic Four 2” opening several months later, on July 14, 2017.
Of course, audiences will have the opportunity to see Jackman’s antihero and the Fantastic Four long before those dates.
Jackman is featured prominently in May’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which is based on the acclaimed “X-Men” comics penned by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in the early 1980s and marks director Bryan Singer’s return to directing the mutant franchise.
The reboot of “The Fantastic Four,” which will star Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and “Divergent” actor Miles Teller, is set for release June 19, 2015.
“The Wolverine” director James Mangold is set to return for the follow-up; the story for the sequel is being kept under wraps, but “X-Men” veteran Lauren Shuler Donner is to produce the film.
“The Wolverine” has gotten $413 million at box offices worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing “X-Men” film to date.
