Warner Bros. has announced the title for the upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel that will bring together Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” It has a certain je ne sais quoi, no?

Set for release on May 6, 2016, the follow-up will be directed by Zack Snyder, with Henry Cavill reprising his “Man of Steel” role as Superman. Ben Affleck takes over as Batman and Israeli actress Gal Gadot portrays Wonder Woman. Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor in the film, which will lead in to a planned “Justice League” movie that Snyder also will direct.

Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed which characters will appear in the “Justice League” film, though Holly Hunter will appear in a role newly created for the vehicle. Other notables include Amy AdamsLaurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, all reprising their roles from “Man of Steel.”

Last week, Snyder released the first photo of Affleck as Batman on Twitter, perhaps quieting some of the naysayers who have been disappointed in the casting choices for “Batman v. Superman.” In the photo, Affleck’s Batman is standing beside the newly redesigned Batmobile.

Check it out below.

More shots might be forthcoming: Production for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has just kicked off in Michigan. In addition to the Detroit area, the film will also shoot in Illinois, Africa and the South Pacific.

What do you think of the title? Does it sound fittingly dramatic for a standoff between two legends?

let's see Jason Statham as Alfred !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • in that case Alfred kicked Lex Ass more than superman/batman :D

Who thinks that the "V" in the movie title points towards the additional five founding members of the Justice League (wonder woman, flash, green lantern, aquaman, and martian manhunter). See "The Brave and the Bold," Vol. #1 from 1960

MAYBE I just expect way too much from the DC comics filmverse. The Nolan Batman series ALMOST set the benchmark-even with the alterations to the established mythology of the Dark Knight, the first of the trilogy, Batman Begins", was a brilliant introduction and interpretation of Bob Kane's creation. "The Dark Knight", second of the series, (IMO) surpassed ALL other previous comic book based productions. It was only due to the last film in the saga, " The Dark Knight Rises", that there was a disappointing downturn and this slide continued right into the , "Man of Steel". Nolan's influence had given rise to those who wanted to use a similar formula on Superman, which failed miserably(IMO). TERRIBLE casting selections had this doomed from the start. But it sold big on large screen action images and special effects, which it appears is what they'll be selling this next big thing on as well. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot. I'll give DC comics the nod as far as their animated productions. They are miles ahead of Marvel in that contest. But other than the two previously mentioned Batflicks, they lag way behind Marvel's live action films. Sad.

It's fine but Batman's ears need improved. Looks too comical and puny, reminds me of the 1950s cloth suit "Batman".

  4. Mike says:

Maybe they could just call it "Superman Kills More Villains".

i thought this was meant to be a Superman sequel now Batman is the title character? Batman hogs the spotlight wants again.

I want a man of steel sequel!?!, not some turd dressed as batman in a Superman film…Yes Watchmen was great, Yeah Man of steel had the best Krypton scenes since Micheal Turner and Talent Caldwell, but Ben affleck can’t act. not he can’t play batman, but he can’t act period, sure women and gays might fancy him as eye candy, so if thats how we plan to cast parts lets pack it in and all go home! my money is staying firmly planted in my wallet…not even gonna rent it for a dolla at Redbox…would rather make friends with Barney and attend a Hansen concert with Joel Shusucker in a nipply batsuit in a psychadelic fit of acid inspired insanity after repeatedly being kicked in the groin:D
