‘Batman': Zack Snyder tweets new portrait of Ben Affleck as Dark Knight

Zack Snyder, the director of the upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel that will bring together Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, released a new photo of actor Ben Affleck in Batman’s cape and cowl on Thursday, the opening day of Comic-Con International 2014. The close-up shot arrives one day after July 23, which had been officially declared Batman Day to honor the hero’s 75th anniversary. Set for release on May 6, 2016, “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will see Henry Cavill reprise his “Man of Steel” role as Superman, with Affleck taking over as Batman and Israeli actress Gal Gadot portraying Wonder Woman. Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor in the film, which will lead in to a planned “Justice League” movie that Snyder also will direct. Batman 75: Marc Tyler Nobleman on ‘uncredited co-creator’ Bill Finger

After 75 years, it’s hard for any story to add a new twist. But today, as part of the Batman Day festivities, something will appear on a Caped Crusader comic book cover that never has before. The name Bill Finger. While the casual fan might be asking “who?,” most Batman devotees know Bill Finger as the writer on the earliest Batman stories and a consistent contributor to tales of the Dark Knight during the character’s evolutionary years. But according to author Marc Tyler Nobleman, who chronicled Bill Finger’s  life in 2012’s “Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman,” an illustrated story which Nobleman calls “an all-ages book,” Finger was much more than that. Batman: DC reveals ‘Detective Comics’ No. 27 cover, hero timeline

To honor the 75th anniversary of Batman’s debut, DC is offering a new special edition take on “Detective Comics” No. 27 — the 1939 issue were it all began. Hero Complex readers can check out the cover of the issue, designed by Chip Kidd with a script by bestselling author Brad Meltzer, as well as a special timeline poster that illustrates some of the most significant milestones in Batman’s storied history.
