‘Guardians of the Galaxy’: Rocket in sarcasm mode in new trailer

Marvel has released a special extended look at “Guardians of the Galaxy,” due in theaters Aug. 1, and it’s the most ‘tude that Rocket the talking raccoon has displayed yet — which is saying something for this wiseguy. Voiced by Bradley Cooper, the sarcastic member of the oddball band of fighters led by Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), laughs uproariously at his leader’s lack of a distinct plan. Apparently, Rocket, an organized type, wants more than roughly 12% of a battle strategy figured out. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ teaser showcases colorful cosmic scenes

Marvel fans excited for “Guardians of the Galaxy” got a sneak preview Friday with a short teaser featuring new footage from the colorful cosmic adventure. The second full trailer for the Aug. 1 release will debut 10 a.m. PDT Monday during a live Facebook Q&A with cast members Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan, as well as writer-director James Gunn. Marvel has released a new poster for its upcoming cosmic adventure, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” featuring the heroes in serious action form. The comic book movie powerhouse also announced that a new trailer for the film is set to arrive Monday morning at 10  Pacific Time during a live Facebook Q&A with cast members Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan, as well as writer-director James Gunn. Marvel debuted a new “Guardians of the Galaxy” featurette during Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” The behind-the-scenes clip showcased prominent members of the movie’s ensemble cast discussing their roles in the cosmic adventure that’s set to arrive in theaters Aug. 1. “It’s a not a typical superhero movie,” star Zoe Saldana explains at one point. It’s official — Bradley Cooper will voice Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Marvel announced Cooper’s casting on its website Friday afternoon; numerous reports previously had tipped the Oscar-nominated actor as likely to land the role. Set for release Aug. 1, 2014, “Guardians of the Galaxy” follows roguish antihero Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and his squad of aliens (including the furry, fan-favorite Rocket Raccoon) as they team up to battle cosmic threats. James Gunn (“Super”) is directing. In addition to Cooper, the “Guardians” cast boasts plenty of stars familiar to fans of genre entertainment, as well as some seemingly unlikely newcomers.
