“Daredevil,” Marvel’s first series for Netflix, will premiere April 10, with 13 one-hour episodes becoming available at 12:01 a.m. Pacific time, the streaming service announced today. The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock as the blind superhero who battles injustice by day as a lawyer, with Vincent D’Onofrio as his chief adversary, Wilson Fisk. “Daredevil” made its New York Comic Con debut Saturday, and perhaps fittingly for a show about a man who practices law by day and vigilante justice at night, the new Netflix series appears set to offer darker, more morally ambiguous television than some other superhero-inspired TV. Indeed, when “Daredevil” arrives in May, the producers and actors who turned out for the NYCC panel emphasized that the show will paint in murky corners. “What I love about this show is the moral gray area that’s inherent to Daredevil,” said showrunner Steven S. Charlie Cox will star as the Man Without Fear in Marvel’s new “Daredevil” series for Netflix. Best known for his work on HBO’s period gangster drama “Boardwalk Empire” and the Neil Gaiman adaptation “Stardust,” Cox will play blind attorney/costumed vigilante Matt Murdock, the superhero leading the latest charge of Marvel comic book characters heading to television. The comic book powerhouse also is developing new, original live-action series centered on Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage for Netflix. Each series will have a minimum of 13 episodes, and will culminate with a special “The Defenders” miniseries event that reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.
