The blind superhero Matt Murdock is front and center in new poster images for Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series, “Daredevil.” Starring Charlie Cox, the series centers on the unlikely hero who is conflicted about his choice to become a vigilante, with his quest for justice taking him to some very dark places. Murdock debuted in comics with the April 1964 cover-dated “Daredevil” No. 1, by Stan Lee and Bill Everett. As a youngster, Matt is blinded in an accident by a radioactive substance that heightens his other senses to superhuman levels. After his father, boxer Battlin’ Jack Murdock, is killed for refusing to throw a fight, the son takes up the fight for justice on two fronts: in the courtroom as an attorney, and on the streets as a vigilante. “What I love about this show is the moral gray area […]

The first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming “Daredevil” series is out, revealing a hero conflicted about his choice to become a vigilante. The blind superhero Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox in the Netflix series) is shown in a confessional with a priest. “I’ve been preoccupied of late with questions of morality, of right and wrong, good and evil,” Murdock says. “I’m not seeking forgiveness for what I’ve done, Father. I’m asking forgiveness for what I’m about to do. I’m just trying to make my city a better place.” And if the trailer is any indication, Murdock’s quest for justice will take him to some dark places. NYCC: Marvel unveils new Netflix series ‘Daredevil’ [photos]

Charlie Cox stars in the Netflix original series “Marvel’s Daredevil.”
(Netflix)
“Daredevil” made its New York Comic Con debut Saturday, and perhaps fittingly for a show ‎about a man who practices law by day and vigilante justice at night, the new Netflix series appears set to offer darker, more morally ambiguous television than some other superhero-inspired TV. Indeed, when “Daredevil” arrives in May, the producers and actors who turned out for the NYCC panel emphasized that the show will paint in murky corners. “What I love about this show is the moral gray area that’s inherent to Daredevil,” ‎said ‎showrunner Steven S. DeKnight. “He’s one day away from becoming Frank Castle instead of Matt Murdock,” he added to laughter. Said Charlie Cox, who plays the blind superhero, a character celebrating his 50th anniversary this year: “We’re meeting a man who believes in law and justice, and at night he is taking law […]
