It’s been a busy time in the Archie universe. Last week marked a milestone in Riverdale, as the beloved redhead died in the pages of the future-set “Life With Archie,” taking a bullet for his friend — and newly elected senator — Kevin Keller. Now “Afterlife With Archie” keeps the ball rolling with a new story set to hit stores Wednesday that promises to raise the drama quotient as well as mark the return of Sabrina the Teenage Witch to the series. Appearances from the casts of “Game of Thrones,” “The Walking Dead” and “Orphan Black” look to be among the top draws at Comic-Con International’s July 25 events, a day heavy on programming centered on top-tier genre television. “The Walking Dead” will amble into Hall H early on, with a panel featuring stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman and Michael Cudlitz, along with executive producer and show runner Scott Gimple, executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert, and special-effects makeup supervisor and executive producer Greg Nicotero. “Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick will lead the cast through a discussion of Season 4 and what’s in store from the next run of episodes from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m., according to the official Comic-Con schedule released Friday. “Game of Thrones” scribe George R.R. Martin, “24″ star Kiefer Sutherland and “special surprise guests” from the cast of 1985′s “The Goonies” mark some of the highlights of Comic-Con 2014′s Thursday programming, which was officially released earlier today. Coming on the heels of this morning’s news that “Game of Thrones” is poised to to take the Emmys by storm with a pack-leading 19 nominations, recent Twitter convert George R.R. Martin, on whose novels the lavish HBO fantasy is based, will no doubt be in high spirits when he sits down with moderator William Christensen (Avatar Press publisher) to discuss “Thrones” (for which he’s scripted several episodes), other works and his newest project, the “In the House of the Worm” comic book series. “Sharknado 2: The Second One” may not officially touch down on the shoreline of New York until its official release date of July 30, but Comic-Con attendees looking to celebrate the highly anticipated sequel can attend a panel with the film’s stars. Syfy announced its programing for the pop-culture exposition today, beginning with a panel featuring the stars of the follow-up to 2013′s shamelessly campy “Sharknado,” including returning headliners Ian Ziering (Fin Shepard) and Tara Reid (April Wexler), plus new-to-the-’nado actors Vivica A. Fox (Skye), Kari Wuhrer (Ellen Shepard Brody) and Judah Friedlander (Bryan) on Thursday, July 24. They’ll be joined by returning director Anthony C. Ferrante. Twentieth Century Fox will roll out several TV events at Comic-Con in San Diego later this month, including sneak peeks for new shows, panel discussions with old classics, live table reads, and a two-story signing booth on the convention floor. Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Orlando Jones and other stars from shows such as “American Horror Story,” “Salem,” “Witches of East End,” “Bones,” “24: Live Another Day” and “Sons of Anarchy” will be on hand to sign autographs, hobnob with the fans or speak on one of the 13 panels scheduled for the confab.
