‘Fantastic Four’ trailer shows off quartet’s powers and villain Victor von Doom

A new trailer for the “Fantastic Four” reboot is out, offering a closer look at the titular heroes’ superpowers as well as the villainous Doctor Doom. At the head of the “Fantastic” quartet is Miles Teller’s Reed Richards, a scientist who “knows answers to questions we don’t even know to ask yet,” says Dr. Franklin Storm (Reg Cathey). An experiment with interdimensional travel endows Reed and his team with superhuman abilities. Reed gets super-stretchy powers; Kate Mara, who plays Dr. Storm’s daughter Sue, can make herself invisible; Michael B. Jordan’s Johnny Storm can turn into a human fireball; and Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) becomes a rock-like giant known as the Thing. The film’s origin story diverges from the Marvel comics, in which the four are endowed with their powers after being exposed to cosmic rays during a scientific space mission. […]

‘Fantastic Four’ finds villain: Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom

It looks like “The Fantastic Four” might have found its Victor von Doom. Actor Toby Kebbell is in negotiations to play villain Doctor Doom in director Josh Trank’s reboot of “The Fantastic Four.” Kebbell appears set to join the cast, which includes Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and “Divergent” actor Miles Teller as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Benjamin Grimm (the Thing) and Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), respectively. The English actor has a history in cinematic blockbusters — his résumé includes turns in such large-scale films as “Wrath of the Titans,” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and Oliver Stone’s 2004 feature “Alexander.” Kebbell also has worked in  more critically well-received films including the Joy Division movie “Control,” Steven Spielberg’s World War I drama “War Horse” and last year’s […]
