Wonder Woman is getting her own movie; Flash, Aquaman, Shazam on deck

Wonder Woman is getting her own movie. “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” actress Gal Gadot will star in the film, slated for release in 2017, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara announced at Time Warner’s investors conference Wednesday. Gadot, who is playing the lasso-wielding Amazon in 2016’s “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” will reprise the role in a 2017 standalone film. The Wonder Woman film is one of 10 DC Comics-based film franchises Warner Bros. has in production, including two Justice League films and movies based on the Suicide Squad, Aquaman, The Flash, Shazam, Cyborg and The Green Lantern, Tsujihara said. After “Dawn of Justice,” Zack Snyder’s follow-up to “Man of Steel,” opens in 3-D on March 25, 2016, fans can look forward to “Suicide Squad,” directed by David Ayer (who wrote “The Fast and the Furious” and “Training […]

‘Batman v. Superman': Twitter reacts to Wonder Woman costume reveal

In conjunction with Saturday’s Comic-Con appearance by “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot and director Zack Snyder, fans got their first glimpse of the new Wonder Woman when Snyder tweeted out the first photo of Gadot in costume. It’s been a busy week for those awaiting the highly anticipated 2016 follow-up to “Man of Steel,” as Snyder also recently shared a new close-up photo of Ben Affleck under the cowl. Even in its earliest stages, the upcoming movie, which brings together a triumvirate of DC heroes and sets the stage for a future “Justice League” film that Snyder will direct, has been the subject of strong commentary in the fan community. Many openly criticized the director’s casting choices — including Affleck as Batman, Godot as Wonder Woman and “Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg […]

Comic-Con 2014: Wonder Woman costume, ‘Batman v. Superman’ teaser revealed

Wonder Woman
Usually when a studio has a surprise to unveil at their Comic-Con panel, they save it for the end to keep people guessing. But Warner Bros. tossed out that playbook for the packed crowd at its Hall H presentation and pulled out the big guns right off the bat, so to speak, offering fans an early, albeit brief, look at its much-anticipated superhero mash-up “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” From the moment the presentation began, it was clear that something major was afoot, as curtains pulled back to reveal jumbo-sized screens wrapping around the front of Hall H. As concept art from “Batman v. Superman” began flashing on the screens, fans, not surprisingly, erupted. Then moderator Chris Hardwick brought the film’s director, Zack Snyder, to the stage. With the film still early in its production, it’s anyone’s guess how much has actually been […]

Ben Affleck makes Batman debut: Fans react to new suit, Batmobile

Filmmaker Zack Snyder got the Internet buzzing Tuesday with a reveal of Ben Affleck wearing the new Batsuit he’ll sport in the director’s upcoming sequel to “Man of Steel,” and fans were quick to weigh in on this first glimpse of the latest incarnation of the Dark Knight. Many have pointed out that the suit seems influenced by Frank Miller’s take on the Dark Knight from the legendary graphic novels “The Dark Knight Returns” and “The Dark Knight Strikes Again” — which is fitting, as Snyder has said that Miller’s take on Batman will inform the film, due for release May 6, 2016. Some, though, criticized the noticeable interlacing veins that cover the suit as an ill-conceived touch. ‘Justice League': Who should join Superman, Batman in Zack Snyder film?

Justice League by Alex Ross (DC Comics)
Warner Bros. confirmed earlier this week that “Man of Steel” filmmaker Zack Snyder will, in fact, unite the heroes of the Justice League for a feature film after his follow-up to the 2013 Superman movie arrives in theaters in 2016. The question is, which heroes will be featured in the cast? The collection of the World’s Greatest Superheros, originally known as the Justice Society of America, made their 1940 debut in “All Star Comics” No. 3. In 1960, the group was revived under the League moniker and received its own title, featuring the classic seven-member incarnation of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter. PHOTOS: Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” cast Since then, the group has had more than 100 members, including one-shot inclusions and heroes with multiple alter egos. When it comes to Snyder’s […]

Zack Snyder to direct ‘Justice League’ movie after ‘Man of Steel’ sequel

Zack Snyder is set to direct a “Justice League” movie for Warner Bros. Word arrived Sunday that the filmmaker will follow his upcoming sequel to “Man of Steel” with a film that will bring all the members of the Justice League together on screen. Speculation had been growing for some time that Warner Bros. was moving toward uniting the heroes on screen — Batman, as played by Ben Affleck, and Wonder Woman, as played by Israeli actress Gal Gadot, are already set to join Henry Cavill’s Superman in the “Man of Steel” sequel set for release May 6, 2016. That grouping seemed to pave the way for the entire group of DC good guys to band together on film. The story was first reported on the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog, with Warner Bros. executive Greg Silverman saying that “‘Superman vs. Batman’ […]
