The DC Comics spinoff series “The Flash” is getting a full series. The CW has given a full series order to the spinoff of its hit show “Arrow,” the network’s president, Mark Pedowitz, announced Tuesday. “The Flash,” which stars Grant Gustin as a young Barry Allen, the fastest man alive, opened to positive reviews and delivered the network’s highest-rated series premiere with 6.1 million viewers tuning in live or watching on DVRs within three days of its air date. The series is from Warner Bros. Television and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter, who shepherded “Arrow” to success. Victor Garber set for key ‘Flash’ role as Dr. Martin Stein

Emmy-nominated actor Victor Garber is set to join the CW’s new series “The Flash,” playing Dr. Martin Stein, one half of the DC Comics entity known as Firestorm. Warner Bros. Television announced “Alias” actor Garber’s casting Thursday in a statement describing Stein as “a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist” who becomes fused with the younger, impulsive Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell). “The Flash” is from Warner Bros. Nutter also directed the show’s first episode, which premiered Tuesday to solid ratings — ranking as the CW’s most-watched and highest-rated series premiere since “The Vampire Diaries” in 2009. According to WBTV, 4.54 million viewers watched the first episode, which introduced audiences to actor Greg Gustin’s take on the role of Barry Allen, the fastest man alive. The […]

As a child in Norfolk, Va., actor Grant Gustin had an all-consuming obsession with a certain DC Comics superhero — just not the one he’ll be playing this fall when “The Flash” comes to television with his own series. “I went everywhere in Superman pajamas I had amped up with red rain boots and red Fruit of the Loom underwear I wore on the outside,” Gustin said during a recent phone interview. “That lasted for a couple of years. I had baby sitters quit because they didn’t want to be seen in public with me.” Although his passion for the Man of Steel hasn’t subsided — he even had the words “Superman, I love him” tattooed on his arm a few years ago — he’s developing a rival fondness for the fastest man alive since bringing him to the screen […]
