The new trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ showcases lots — and we really mean lots — of Spidey action, with the web slinger going up against not just Jamie Foxx’s villain Electro but also Chris Cooper’s Green Goblin. “Every day I wake up knowing that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will make,” says Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker at the beginning of the clip. The trailer then shows just how many enemies, and how much destruction, will be unleashed in the sequel, due May 2. Like its predecessor, “The Amazing Spider-Man,” the new film is directed by Marc Webb (“ Days of Summer”). Emma Stone returns as Gwen Stacy, with Cooper and Dane DeHaan joining the cast as Norman Osborn and his son, Harry. Sally Field also reprises her role as Peter’s Aunt May, […]

Like Spider-Man himself, Sony Pictures feels great responsibility when it comes to its most precious franchise. The music pounded, the lights dimmed and three massive curtains at the front of the San Diego Convention Center’s Hall H pulled back to reveal the screens that would debut new footage for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which just finished filming in New York three weeks ago. Fans went nuts for the scenes, some still in storyboard form, that explored Peter Parker’s newfound joy with being Spider-Man and his complex relationship with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) while also revealing some of villain Electro’s (played by Jamie Foxx) origin story. The movie won’t open until May 2, 2014. But as he did two years ago in Hall H, it was Andrew Garfield who stole the show. His stunning mix of humility, honesty and that old-fashioned […]

Fans whose spider-sense has been tingling in anticipation of more “Amazing Spider-Man 2” news can now sneak a peek — and a listen — at Jamie Foxx in character as the supervillain Electro. A new 42-second teaser video, embedded below, opens with Electro obscured amid a tangle of wires while strapped onto some sort of high-tech gurney. As the camera pores over the equipment, Foxx says in an ominous whisper, “No matter what you do … you can’t contain me. You want to know how powerful I am? Well I want to know too.” FULL COVERAGE: San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Finally, a shot reveals the villain’s visage, with eerie bluish skin and a bald head, as he says, “I’m Electro.” Electro’s look in the movie is markedly different from his counterpart in the classic Spidey comics, in which he wears […]

Fans can get a first look at “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ villain Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, in new photos snapped on the film’s set. The photos, taken while the filmmakers were shooting in New York’s Times Square, show Foxx wearing creepy blue makeup and prosthetics, as well as an LED-lined hoodie, revealing an Electro that might not be familiar to some fans of the classic villain. In the original comics, Electro is an electrician named Max Dillon who gains the ability to generate and control electricity after he’s struck by lightning while repairing a power line. He turns to a life of organized crime. The character, who first appeared in 1964, is typically seen wearing a green suit and a yellow lightning bolt mask. But Foxx’s Electro appears to be more closely modeled on the Ultimate version of the […]
