First ‘Fantastic Four’ teaser reveals new origin for super quartet

The first trailer for “Fantastic Four” is out, offering a glimpse of the super-powered quartet’s retooled origin story. The trailer, released Tuesday, opens with four sweeping landscape views — New York City, mountaintops, a house in a neighborhood and cornfields — presumably of the homes of each member of the foursome. “How did we get this far? Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover, to invent, to build,” the voiceover narrates. “Our future depends on us furthering these ideals — a responsibility that rests on the shoulders of generations to come. ‘Star Wars': Josh Trank set to direct standalone film

Josh Trank is set to join “Godzilla” filmmaker Gareth Edwards as a new recruit to the “Star Wars” universe. Trank will direct one of the multiple standalone movies that Disney plans to release that will explore the world created by George Lucas outside of the primary episodes of the franchise. Lucasfilm announced Trank’s selection Wednesday, but revealed no details about the film’s story line. It’s been a busy time in the “Star Wars” universe. Earlier last month, Edwards, who enjoyed a blockbuster success with his big-budget “Godzilla” reboot, was tapped to helm another of the “Star Wars” standalone projects, which will be written by Gary Witta (“The Book of Eli,” Telltale Games’ adaptation of “The Walking Dead”). ‘Fantastic Four’ finds villain: Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom

It looks like “The Fantastic Four” might have found its Victor von Doom. Actor Toby Kebbell is in negotiations to play villain Doctor Doom in director Josh Trank’s reboot of “The Fantastic Four.” Kebbell appears set to join the cast, which includes Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and “Divergent” actor Miles Teller as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Benjamin Grimm (the Thing) and Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), respectively. The English actor has a history in cinematic blockbusters — his résumé includes turns in such large-scale films as “Wrath of the Titans,” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and Oliver Stone’s 2004 feature “Alexander.” Kebbell also has worked in  more critically well-received films including the Joy Division movie “Control,” Steven Spielberg’s World War I drama “War Horse” and last year’s […]
