Shailene Woodley is heading back to dystopian Chicago. Lionsgate announced Tuesday that principal photography for “Insurgent,” next year’s planned sequel to“Divergent,” commenced on location in Atlanta. The film adaptation of the second book in Veronica Roth’s massively successful “Divergent” trilogy will see Woodley reprising her role as Tris Prior and tracks her journey as a fugitive with compatriot Four (Theo James), fleeing from the ruthless Erudite leader Jeanine (Kate Winslet) as war between the factions looms. The pair is tasked with uncovering the mystery of Tris’ family’s sacrifice and why the Erudite leaders are so intent on stopping them. Earlier this year, in an interview with Hero Complex, Winslet spoke about her experience working with Woodley. “I think she has one up on me in many ways because she’s been working in this industry for longer than I had done […]

It’s been a year of change for Kate Winslet. The newly married English actress welcomed her third child, received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is playing her first genuine baddie on the big screen in this past weekend’s blockbuster action film “Divergent.” “I wanted to be in a film that was just completely different to everything that I’ve done,” she said last week between sips of cranberry soda at the L’Ermitage hotel in Beverly Hills. “Divergent,” directed by Neil Burger, is the first in a trilogy based on Veronica Roth’s bestselling young adult book series about a future where people are strictly sorted into factions based on their personality: The brave go to Dauntless, the honest to Candor, the kind to Amity, the selfless to Abnegation and the intelligent to Erudite. Shailene Woodley plays a heroine […]

“Divergent” opens in theaters today, bringing dystopian adventure heroine Tris Prior to the big screen and launching the film’s star Shailene Woodley into the public eye. The film, based on the bestselling young adult book series by Veronica Roth, takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where people are sorted into factions based on personality. Woodley’s Tris finds out she’s divergent, meaning she has aptitude for multiple factions — something that’s not allowed in the rigidly divided society. She decides to hide her divergence and join Dauntless, the faction that values bravery, and as a result finds herself jumping onto moving trains, throwing knives and shooting guns. For Woodley, “Divergent” marks her first step into the world of big-budget action. Her previous work includes playing a teen mom in ABC Family television series “The Secret Life of an American Teenager,” portraying a […]
