A new teaser for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” hints at the growing animosity between the men in Katniss Everdeen’s life. The 30-second video clip, released Tuesday, depicts Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), her childhood friend turned potential romantic interest, in District 13 surrounded by weapons as the rebels prepare to make war against Panem’s oppressive regime, helmed by President Snow (Donald Sutherland). But Snow seems to have his own weapon — the captured Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). A series of new character posters spotlight the “rebel warriors” featured in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” the next installment in the blockbuster film franchise, which is set to arrive in theaters Nov. 21. The posters feature Liam Hemsworth’s Gale, in addition to a host of new faces joining the series with the third movie, including Mahershala Ali as Boggs, Evan Ross as Messalla, Wes Chatham as Castor, Elden Henson as Pollux and “Game of Thrones” favorite Natalie Dormer as Cressida. Jennifer Lawrence is back in the arena as Katniss Everdeen in a new international trailer for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” the anticipated sequel set to reach theaters Nov. 22. Directed by Francis Lawrence, “Catching Fire” adapts the second book in Suzanne Collins’ bestselling “Hunger Games” trilogy. The saga follows resourceful young warrior Katniss as she becomes an unlikely symbol of hope in a brutal future world in which teenagers are forced to compete in a televised battle to the death. The second installment in Lionsgate’s planned four-movie series sees Katniss, played by newly minted Oscar winner Lawrence, selected to fight for her life once more after struggling to regain a sense of normalcy in the wake of her victory in the previous film.
