Scarlett Johansson goes sci-fi, superhuman in new ‘Lucy’ trailer

Scarlett Johansson is back on the big screen in a big way this weekend in both “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and the sci-fi-inflected art house film “Under the Skin,” but those films aren’t the only projects that see her in take-charge genre mode. Set for release Aug. 8, “Lucy,” written and directed by Luc Besson, stars Johansson as a drug mule who ingests some contraband and finds herself with enhanced abilities, apparently because the chemicals allow her to access more of her brain. “It is estimated most human beings only use 10% of the brain’s capacity,” Morgan Freeman’s character explains in the trailer. “Imagine if we could access 100%. ‘Adèle Blanc-Sec’ Blu-ray: Watch an exclusive clip from the film

“The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec” arrives on Blu-ray and DVD this week, bringing Jacques Tardi’s intrepid heroine to American screens for the first time. Luc Besson’s 2010 film, based on Tardi’s popular comic, stars French actress Louise Bourgoin as the film’s mystery-solving protagonist. Adèle, as her devoted fans know, is an erudite reporter who finds herself entangled in an early 20th century adventure, complete with the Moulin Rouge cabaret, a pterosaur and mummies. Luc Besson’s 2010 film adaptation of “The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec” is finally crossing the pond. The French film, based on the popular comic by Eisner Award winner Jacques Tardi, will be released Aug. 13 on Blu-ray and DVD. “The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec” stars French actress Louise Bourgoin as the film’s globe-trotting, mystery-solving heroine, an erudite reporter who finds herself entangled in an early 20th-century adventure complete with mummies, the Moulin Rouge cabaret and a pterosaur.
