‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’: New TV spot for Michael Bay epic

Actor Mark Wahlberg received the MTV Generation Award at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, and during the telecast, Paramount revealed a new TV spot from the actor’s upcoming blockbuster, “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” which sees him join up with Michael Bay’s hit franchise. Written by Ehren Kruger and directed by Bay, “Transformers: Age of Extinction” stars Wahlberg as mechanic Cade Yeagar, a father and everyman who becomes embroiled in the high-stakes action that ensues when warring tribes of alien robots duke it out here on planet Earth. The latest installment, set to open in theaters June 27, introduces Dinobots into the mix. Optimus Prime is getting a makeover for “Transformers 4.” Looking to stoke fan excitement for the upcoming installment in the action movie franchise from director Michael Bay, Paramount has revealed a first look at an upgraded Optimus Prime and images of two new Autobots that will be battling Decepticons right alongside him. The photos, taken on the Monument Valley, Utah, set of the sequel, feature Optimus Prime as a customized Western Star truck, along with the new characters, a sleek Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse and a special race-inspired C7 Corvette Stingray. Not pictured is the film’s Oscar-nominated star Mark Walhberg, who most recently appeared in Bay’s “Pain & Gain,” about bodybuilders who run afoul of the law. Mark Walhberg, the Oscar-nominated actor recently feted for performances in “The Fighter” and “The Departed,” is getting back in the action movie game: Filmmaker Michael Bay announced Thursday that the actor will star in his upcoming fourth installment in the blockbuster “Transformers” franchise. It’s an interesting pivot for the actor, coming off a busy year that most recently saw him star opposite a foul-mouthed teddy bear in Seth MacFarlane’s raunchy R-rated comedy, “Ted.” Instead of a debauched stuffed animal, he’ll be facing off against some out-of-this-world metal mammoths.
