A TV series spinning off from “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is in the works, Hero Complex has confirmed. Though details about the new show have yet to be revealed, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” series regulars Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood are set to star. “S.H.I.E.L.D.” executive producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski are teaming up to helm the project. In “S.H.I.E.L.D.” Palicki portrays highly skilled agent Barbara “Bobbi” Morse, better known in the comics as Mockingbird. Nick Blood plays Bobbi’s ex-husband, Lance Hunter, a former British soldier and mercenary. The potential spinoff comes after Marvel’s critically praised limited series “Agent Carter,” which starred “Captain America: The First Avenger” actress Hayley Atwell as the eponymous Agent Peggy Carter, on a mission to save Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) from well-meaning but wrong-headed investigators at the Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R.). – Noelene Clark | @NoeleneClark […]

“It’s all connected.” That was the familiar refrain Tuesday night from Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” producers and cast after the ABC series’ Season 2 premiere aired. (And, if you’ve yet to see the new episode, consider pausing here and coming back after you’ve watched. Spoilers ahead.) Those words were clearly true from the new season’s get-go, as it started with a taste of the 1940s-set upcoming series “Agent Carter,” starring Hayley Atwell, with a strange and powerful obelisk her team boxed up back then driving the quick-paced, twisting-and-turning action for Agent Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) present-day S.H.I.E.L.D. team. Season 2 picks up with S.H.I.E.L.D. still in shambles from the disastrous double-agents revelation of HYDRA and the destruction seen in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” that changed the course of the show. HYDRA is still active, there’s that obelisk, the mystery of […]

Marvel head of television Jeph Loeb might not have been able to shed much light on the future plot lines of Marvel’s two ABC series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Agent Carter” — the studio really relies on its narrative surprises — but he did reveal some key cast and directors on Marvel TV’s Comic-Con International panel on Friday. Loeb confirmed that Lucy Lawless will join the cast of “S.H.I.E.L.D.” in the show’s second season as a tough, knife-wielding longtime veteran named Isabelle Hartley. She’ll be joined by a young English actor named Nick Blood (yes, it’s his real name) as the mercenary Lance Hunter, known to comics fans as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s British counterpart, S.T.R.I.K.E. The third new cast member is Reed Diamond, who will play Hydra villain Daniel Whitehall. Additionally, guest star Patton Oswalt appeared in character as […]

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is nearing the conclusion of its first season — but before the May 13 finale comes Tuesday’s penultimate installment, “Ragtag,” which explores Grant Ward’s tumultuous personal history. Those who aren’t current with the series might want to stop reading now as spoilers are ahead. But curious Hero Complex readers can exclusively watch the opening of Tuesday’s episode in the video below, a flashback scene that traces a key meeting in young Grant’s life. Ward, played by actor Brett Dalton, was recently exposed as an agent of HYDRA, the evil organization that had infiltrated S.H.I.EL.D., the discovery of which prompted no less than Captain America (Chris Evans) to see to the the agency’s destruction in Marvel’s April blockbuster “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Those events bled over into the world of the series, radically altering the political […]

Marvel debuted a new “Guardians of the Galaxy” featurette during Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” The behind-the-scenes clip showcased prominent members of the movie’s ensemble cast discussing their roles in the cosmic adventure that’s set to arrive in theaters Aug. 1. “It’s a not a typical superhero movie,” star Zoe Saldana explains at one point. Directed by James Gunn (“Super”) and based on the Marvel comic of the same name, “Guardians of the Galaxy” stars Chris Pratt as the roguish antihero Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord. Once the interstellar scofflaw steals a mysterious orb, Quill finds himself on the run from powerful villain Ronan (Lee Pace), whose evil plans threaten the universe.
