‘Star Wars: Episode VII’: J.J. Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan post ‘video selfie’

It’s May the Fourth, and “Star Wars: Episode VII” screenwriters J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan have a message for fans. The duo posted a very brief fan greeting from London — a “video selfie” on Sunday for “Star Wars” day — check it out below. Perhaps the most interesting element of the clip? Abrams’ suggesting that casting announcements for “Episode VII” could “continue” as production ramps up. Last week, of course, Abrams finally put to rest the rumors about who would appear in “Episode VII” by announcing the official cast of the film, due to arrive in the multiplex Dec. 18, 2015. Adam Driver, best known for his role in HBO’s “Girls,” and Oscar Isaac, who won considerable acclaim for his turn in the Coen brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis,” will star in the new “Star Wars” movie alongside John Boyega, known for his […]

‘Star Wars Rebels’: Animated series trailer arrives for May the Fourth

Just in time for “Star Wars” day, the new trailer for the animated series “Star Wars Rebels” has arrived — and the clip instantly recalls the original trilogy with a very familiar sounding Imperial March. “Star Wars Rebels” is set about five years before the beginning of “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,” and follows the adventures of a group of heroes desperately trying to combat the all-consuming might of the Empire, the fascistic government arisen from the ashes of the Old Republic in “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.” The series, overseen by supervising director and executive producer Dave Filoni, whose work on “The Clone Wars” has made him well known in “Star Wars” fan circles, will premiere on the Disney Channel in the fall before it shifts to Disney XD for the rest of the […]

Finally, after months of conjecture, “Star Wars” fans learned last week precisely which actors will have a role in “Star Wars: Episode VII,” the film that will return George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away to the multiplex Dec. 18, 2015. Adam Driver, best known for his role in HBO’s “Girls,” and Oscar Isaac, who won considerable acclaim for his turn in the Coen brothers “Inside Llewyn Davis,” will appear alongside Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, performance capture expert Andy Serkis and venerable Swedish thespian Max von Sydow in director J.J. Abrams’ new film. John Boyega, known for his work in the fan favorite film “Attack the Block,” and newcomer Daisy Ridley, also will star, and the principal actors from Lucas’ original saga — Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker — are set to return […]
