Six minutes of “The Amazing Spider-Man” will screen before “Men in Black III” in IMAX 3D theaters, Sony announced Tuesday. The Andrew Garfield-starring reboot of the Spidey film franchise has been the topic of much anticipation and criticism, with some fans looking forward to Peter Parker’s reappearance on the big screen and others defending Sam Raimi’s Tobey Maguire-starring trilogy, which wrapped up only five years ago. The new film, which hits theaters July 3, is directed by Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer”), and stars Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as her father, NYPD Capt. Special makeup effects wizard Rick Baker surprised Hero Complex Film Festival attendees Saturday afternoon, dropping by to answer questions about his prolific career, and carrying an alien head in a garbage bag. Baker, 61, is a seven-time Oscar winner whose credits include “Planet of the Apes,” “Hellboy,” “Ed Wood,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video and dozens more. The Q&A — at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles — followed a screening of a featurette about Baker’s work for “Men in Black III,” which hits theaters next weekend. The first trailer for next summer’s “Men in Black 3″ reveals that a lot of time traveling is going on. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back as Agents J and K, running around after all kinds of aliens on the loose in New York City. But this time, Smith’s Agent J travels back in time to the 1960s, where he encounters a much younger version of his partner, played in the past by Josh Brolin.
