First ‘Fantastic Four’ teaser reveals new origin for super quartet

The first trailer for “Fantastic Four” is out, offering a glimpse of the super-powered quartet’s retooled origin story. The trailer, released Tuesday, opens with four sweeping landscape views — New York City, mountaintops, a house in a neighborhood and cornfields — presumably of the homes of each member of the foursome. “How did we get this far? Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover, to invent, to build,” the voiceover narrates. “Our future depends on us furthering these ideals — a responsibility that rests on the shoulders of generations to come. ‘Fantastic Four’ finds villain: Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom

It looks like “The Fantastic Four” might have found its Victor von Doom. Actor Toby Kebbell is in negotiations to play villain Doctor Doom in director Josh Trank’s reboot of “The Fantastic Four.” Kebbell appears set to join the cast, which includes Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and “Divergent” actor Miles Teller as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Benjamin Grimm (the Thing) and Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), respectively. The English actor has a history in cinematic blockbusters — his résumé includes turns in such large-scale films as “Wrath of the Titans,” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and Oliver Stone’s 2004 feature “Alexander.” Kebbell also has worked in  more critically well-received films including the Joy Division movie “Control,” Steven Spielberg’s World War I drama “War Horse” and last year’s […]

‘The Wolverine,’ ‘Fantastic Four’ sequels due in 2017

Hugh Jackman’s next solo outing as loner Logan officially has a release date, as does the sequel to Josh Trank’s “Fantastic Four” reboot. Fox confirmed Thursday that “The Wolverine 2″ will open March 3, 2017, with “Fantastic Four 2″ opening several months later, on July 14, 2017. Of course, audiences will have the opportunity to see Jackman’s antihero and the Fantastic Four long before those dates. Jackman is featured prominently in May’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which is based on the acclaimed “X-Men” comics penned by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in the early 1980s and marks director Bryan Singer’s return to directing the mutant franchise. The reboot of “The Fantastic Four,” which will star Michael B.
