A new mobile game based on “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” allows players to become Shadowhunters. The game, due out Aug. 15 from Sony Pictures and developer PlayFirst, is tied to the scheduled Aug. 21 theatrical release of “City of Bones,” a film adaptation of the first installment in Cassandra Clare’s bestselling young adult urban fantasy book series. In “City of Bones,” heroine Clary Fray (Lily Collins) finds herself entangled in the world of Shadowhunters — angelic demon-hunters — after her mother is attacked and taken by a demon. “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” mobile game, which will be free for iOS and Android on the App Store and Google Play, lets gamers immerse themselves in Clare’s world, filled with vampires, werewolves, warlocks and, of course, Shadowhunters.
