‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ casting news generates Twitter excitement

It’s the biggest “Star Wars” news to emerge for some time — on Tuesday morning, filmmaker J.J. Abrams announced the cast for his upcoming space adventure, confirming some of the names that had been the subject of online speculation for some time. Adam Driver, best known for his role in HBO’s “Girls,” and Oscar Isaac, who won considerable acclaim for his turn in the Coen brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis,” will appear alongside Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, performance capture expert Andy Serkis and venerable Swedish thespian Max von Sydow. Also in the mix are John Boyega, known for his work in the fan favorite film “Attack the Block,” and newcomer Daisy Ridley. Word finally arrived Tuesday morning confirming precisely which actors will have a role in “Star Wars: Episode VII,” the film that will return George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away to the multiplex Dec. 18, 2015. ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ cast revealed: Abrams confirms acting roster

The speculation is finally at an end — John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow will star in “Star Wars: Episode VII.” The actors join the stars of George Lucas’ original saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, in director J.J. Abrams’ new film, due in theaters Dec. 18, 2015. In a statement released on StarWars.com, Abrams said, “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again.
