This post contains “Game of Thrones” spoilers. Poor Sansa Stark can’t catch a break. And fans are taking to social media to express their outrage following the latest atrocity inflicted on Sansa in last night’s episode of “Game of Thrones.” Sansa, portrayed by 19-year-old Sophie Turner, has survived horror after horror in the hit HBO fantasy series. From losing her direwolf Lady, to witnessing the beheading of her father Ned Stark, to suffering the brutality and humiliation inflicted by Joffrey Lannister, to being attacked by a riotous mob, Sansa’s lot only seems to worsen over time. And after fearing sexual assault by Joffrey, by the Hound, by the mob, by Tyrion and potentially even by Littlefinger, Sansa is raped on her wedding night by her new husband, the psychotic Ramsay Bolton, as a tearful Theon Greyjoy, a.k.a. Reek, is made […]

‘Game of Thrones’: Sophie Turner promises ‘big change’ for Sansa in Season 5

Teenage girls rarely make the wisest decisions when it comes to first love. Few people understand that fact as well as Sophie Turner, who plays the eldest daughter of House Stark on HBO’s wildly popular “Game of Thrones.” During the series’ four seasons, Sansa Stark has found herself paying dearly for her affection for Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), the sadistic boy king — watching him order her father beheaded, enduring his cruelty at court, fearing for her safety when he threw her over for Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). (Anyone not current with the series might be advised to stop reading now — spoilers ahead.) So, is it fair to say that Sansa took some delight in the fact that Joffrey met with a grim fate at his own nuptials, an event known in the lore of the show as the […]

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 brings new peril for the Stark women

'Game of Thrones' Stark women (featured image)
The chilly breeze blowing through a restaurant patio sent “Game of Thrones” actress Michelle Fairley reaching for her blazer and her television daughters, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, reaching for the ominous tagline that’s become so associated with HBO’s big-budget fantasy series. “Winter is coming,” chimed the teenagers in their lilting English voices, the trio laughing at the notion that a bracing March wind would attend a reunion of the women of House Stark, even on a seasonably pleasant Los Angeles spring day. In the world of Westeros, seasons can last for years, making the approach of a bleak and bitter winter a fierce proposition indeed. But even in the sunniest of days, the fantasy realm first created by author George R.R. Martin in his “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels can be an unforgiving place where acts of […]
