Executive producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg were joined by members of the cast of “Star Wars Rebels” on stage Saturday to give fans a peek at what was ahead for the show’s upcoming second season. Based on the first official trailer, they’ll get a lot of chilling Darth Vader action, plus the return of some familiar faces from the previous “Clone Wars” animated series, including Ahsoka, Captain Rex and Hondo Ohnaka. And there were many other bits just glimpsed in the three-and-a-half-minute trailer. “There are things designed to hit you immediately,” Filoni said at a press conference following the panel. “As you watch a trailer over and over, if they’re designed well, the are layers and there are things you see and you get a little more out of it. “Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions” is out on home video Tuesday, but Hero Complex readers can get an exclusive sneak peek at a clip from the bonus features. “The Clone Wars,” set in the years between “Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith,” was a fan-favorite series and widely praised for its sophistication and scope. After five seasons on Cartoon Network, “The Clone Wars” was canceled last year without a satisfactory conclusion after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, ultimately making way for the new Disney XD series “Star Wars Rebels,” which takes place in the time between “Revenge of the Sith” and “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.” Thirteen “Clone Wars” episodes that never made it to air before the show was canceled were […]

“Star Wars” fans let out a collective howl of anguish last year when it was announced that one of the casualties of Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm was the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” The fan-favorite series was canceled without a satisfactory conclusion, yanked from the schedule of Cartoon Network, where it had aired since 2008. That ultimately made way for a new series, “Star Wars Rebels,” set to premiere on the Disney Channel before moving to Disney XD. So, when word came that the final 13 episodes of the show’s sixth season would become available to fans on Netflix, the news was met with good cheer. As of Friday, viewers can check out “The Lost Missions,” which will join the previous five seasons on the streaming video service, including some director’s cuts of those earlier episodes. “The Lost […]

The roll out for the upcoming animated series “Star Wars Rebels” has been ramping up, and two new teasers released Monday morning showcase new footage for the show. Set 14 years after “Revenge of the Sith” and four years prior to the events of “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope,” “Star Wars Rebels” will center on a core group of characters — with the Inquisitor serving as a major new villain tasked by Darth Vader with tracking down the remaining Jedi Knights. One of those former Jedi is Kanan (voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.) — the character, pictured in the gallery above, has been described as a “cowboy Jedi” who has gone into hiding and no longer uses his light saber for fear of being discovered, though, as the series rolls out, Kanan just might find his way […]
