‘Lego Movie’ gets Mondo poster treatment

“The Lego Movie” opens in theaters today and is already garnering rave reviews, not to mention a poster from Mondo, Alamo Drafthouse’s collectible art division. The limited-edition poster, below right, was created by artist Tom Whalen, whose previous clients include Lucasfilm, Paramount, Disney and more. (Check out Whalen’s posters for “Toy Story,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Monsters, Inc.” and other popular films on his website.) Whalen’s “Lego Movie” poster features the film’s hero Emmet (Chris Pratt), an average Joe Lego mini-figure who is mistaken as “The Special,” a person destined to save the world. The poster also features his friends, including Batman (Will Arnett), Wildstyle (Elizabeth Banks), Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman) and more.
