Warren Beatty still flirting with ‘Dick Tracy’ sequel [updated]
Warren Beatty may make a “Dick Tracy” sequel, the actor and director told the cheering audience Thursday at the Hero Complex Film Festival. Beatty, who directed and starred in the 1990 detective movie based on Chester Gould‘s long-running comic strip, said he’s been working on the sequel and wants to “get it right.” He declined to elaborate on casting priorities, the visual effects approach or any sort of timetable. “When you’re really doing good work is when you don’t know you’re working, and when something just occurs to you, and you go, ‘Oh, of course.’” Beatty told the auditorium at the Chinese Six in Hollywood after the festival’s opening screening of “Dick Tracy.” In the audience were two key contributors to the 1990 film, visual effects supervisor Harrison Ellenshaw and miniatures specialist John Scheele.
