The CW, which wrapped up the 10th and final season of “Smallville” last May, is back in the business of superheroes. Now Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, played by Justin Hartley in “Smallville,” is aiming for his own TV show, “Arrow.” Stephen Amell will star as the billionaire playboy-turned-vigilante.
The network released its first image from “Arrow’s” pilot (above) today, featuring Amell in the hero’s suit, designed by three-time Academy Award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood, who most recently took home Oscar gold for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” Amell has appeared on such TV shows as “The Vampire Diaries,” “Hung” and “New Girl.”
Created by Mort Weisinger and first illustrated by George Papp, the DC Comics character dates back to the 1940s. Aside from the clear Batman and Robin Hood influences, Green Arrow was also inspired by the movie serial “The Green Archer.”
Directed by David Nutter (“Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Roswell”), “Arrow’s” first episode was shot in Vancouver, Canada. The CW, along with other TV networks, is wrapping up pilot season and will announce later this spring which shows made the cut for its 2012-2013 season.

I will be ecstatic for this show. you two ^ can go suck it
i would love to see this. i think we all need to see more super hero shows.
If this show is in the vein of "Smallville" they are doing it wrong.
While I'd totally watch a show about Green Arrow, I have to admit it's depressing that "Arrow" is getting it's premiere and "The Graysons" isn't. Also, if they have a character at all like the Lana Lang from Smallville, I might have to turn to alcohol to watch it.
You guys are forgetting that Green Arrow isn't all goody two shoes like Superman is, so I don't expect the same stuff out of Arrow that was in Smallville.
Why no Justin Hartley? What was wrong with that guy?
This was a really well done show. I thought it was so good it was on abc but its going to be CW.
i wish Arrow was the Green arrow from smallville
