Comic-Con 2013: ‘Haven’s’ hugfest has an Edge to it

July 23, 2013 | 10:55 a.m.

Fans of Syfy’s “Haven” embraced the cast and writers of the show figuratively and literally in Friday’s Comic-Con International panel, with a majority of those who posed questions to the panelists receiving hugs.

It’s not a new thing at a convention for a person asking questions to request a hug from a panelist, but it usually stops after the first few. Not the case here. Adam Copeland (aka WWE wrestler Edge), who plays the bullet-attracting Dwight on the show, received hugs from two extremes: A couple of kids who really loved Edge, and a pretty big guy who wanted to give him a bear hug. In the video above, “Haven’s” fix-it man gives us his take on the hugfest.

Copeland was joined on the panel by most of the cast, including stars Emily Rose, Eric Balfour, Lucas Bryant and newcomer Colin Ferguson, who also served as moderator. The questions concentrated on the different-powered people who seem to crop up in the strange town of Haven and the havoc they cause. The show’s mystery, with past lives and a deep and constantly unraveling history, inspires lots of involvement from viewers.

And at Comic-Con, their devotion paid off — in hugs.
